Right to Information, or RTI, is the most important law for the everyday person. It gives them the right to speak out against any government official or their work. Under the RTI Act, anyone can ask about things like how clean a place is, how well the roads are kept up, or if they have trouble getting water.
The only reason for this Act is to make everything “transparent.” It was brought to light in 2005 by people who worked hard to stop corruption.
What is RTI Act?
This Act says that every Indian citizen has the right to know about the State and Central Government. They can try to find out why for reasons like:
- The theft of money meant for building roads
- Misuse of money in government projects to build things
- We want to know why we aren’t getting any service or passbook.
How to file RTI information online?
If you want an explanation, you need to come up with a way to use it. Make sure you talk to the public official from the right department. Every department has one public authority in charge of giving full information.
You can use the website rtionline.gov.in to file your RTI application. Please note that only Indian citizens can make an appeal.
Go to https://rtionline.gov.in to file an RTI. Check the instructions for how to file or send in your RTI application. Check the box that says “I HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE ABOVE GUIDELINES” if you agree with the rules. To send your RTI, tap “Submit.”
To file RTI, you will get an online form. These three things must be done:
- Choose the Ministry or Department that has the information you need. You need to use the dropdown menu to choose Department/Ministry or Apex body.
- Share information about yourself, like your name, phone number, address, etc.
- Write down what information you need from the department in question.
Pay an RTI fee of Rs. 10 by making a payment. Indians who live below the poverty line have been given a break by the government. According to the RTI Rules of 2012, people in this group do not have to pay anything.
If you are BPL, click the “Yes” button next to the question “Is the Applicant Below the Poverty Line?” You must upload your BPL certificate card for verification in the field labelled “Supporting documents.” To file an RTI application, once you’re done, press “Submit.”
A person who isn’t on the BPL list must pay the Rs.10 fee in one of the following ways:
- RuPay cards
- Credit/ Debit card of Visa/ Master cards
- UPI
- Internet banking
After payment is made, the application will be sent. When the application is turned in, the applicant will get a unique registration number. It will also be sent to them via email and text message.
After 30 days, the right department will give you all the information you need. You can also check the status of your application by clicking “VIEW STATUS.” In the same way, you must follow the steps to send in the RTI application for the first appeal.
